Religious holidays include Diwali (festival of
light), Durga Puja, Holi, Lohri, Maha Shivaratri, Eid ul Fitr,
Eid ul Adha and Buddha Jayanti. The Qutub Festival is a cultural
event during which the performance of musicians and dancers
from all regions of India are presented on the night, with
the Qutub Minar chosen as the backdrop for this event. Other
events such as Kite Flying Festival, International Festival
of mango and Vasant Panchami (Spring Festival) are held annually
in Delhi.
The Pragati Maidan hosts major exhibitions such as the Book
Fair and the India International Trade Fair annually. New
Delhi is a cosmopolitan city because of the multi-ethnic and
multicultural presence of the vast Indian bureaucracy and
