Buses are the most popular restoration of transportation to approximately 60% of total demand. The state-owned Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is a leading provider of bus services for the city and plays a crucial role in connecting with the rest of the metropolis. Buses run about 34 depots and buses operate between states since the three bus terminals Inter State in Kashmere Gate, Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar. DTC is coordinating with Delhi Metro commuters to log in areas surrounding the metro stations.



Auto rickshaws are popular means of public transport in New Delhi. They are usually green and yellow and many run on CNG. Taxis are not as prevalent and tend to be more expensive. However, both private taxis and state-permitted taxis (which are black and yellow) are easily accessible. Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport is located in the southwest corner of Delhi and is the main airport serving New Delhi. In 2006-07, the IGI traffic at the airport has registered more than 19.4 million passengers, making it the second busiest airport in South Asia. Safdarjung airport is another airport in Delhi used for general aviation. Railways served only 1% of the local traffic from 2003. The headquarters of the Indian Railways and the Railway North are located in New Delhi. The New Delhi Railway Station is the main station of the city and is an important railway junction in northern India.

Groups language from all over India are well represented in the city, among which are Maithili, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi.
