GREAT INDIA

Work's of Rabindranath Tagore

Tagore's literary reputation is overly influenced by respect for his poetry, but he also wrote novels, essays, travel books, plays, and thousands of songs. Tagore of prose, short stories are perhaps more highly regarded: indeed, he is credited with the origin of the Bengali-language version of the genre. His works are often known for their rhythm, optimistic nature and lyrical. These stories most often borrow deceptively simple subject: the lives of ordinary people.

Rabindranath Tagore's eight novels

Tagore wrote eight novels and four new ones, including Chaturanga, Shesher Kobita, Char Odhay and Noukadubi. Ghare Baire (The Home and the World), through the prism of the zamindar idealistic protagonist Nikhil-excoriates rise of Indian nationalism, terrorism, and religious zeal in the Swadeshi movement, a frank expression of feelings Tagore's conflict, it revealed a match of the 1914 depression. Indeed, the novel ends with bleakly between Hindus and Muslims and sectarian violence which Nikhil (probably fatally) injured. In a sense, Gora sharing the same theme, which raises controversial questions about the identity of India. As with Ghore Baire, questions of self-identity (jati), personal freedom, and religion are developed in the context of a history of family and love triangle. Another story is Yogayog (Nexus), in which the heroine Kumudini-bound by the ideals of Shiva-Sati, illustrated by Dakshayani-is torn between his pity for the plight of its sinking progressive and compassionate older brother and his foil: its exploitation , Rakish and patriarchical husband. In it demonstrates Tagore's feminist leanings, using the pathos to describe the ultimate fate and the disappearance of Bengali women trapped by pregnancy, duty and family honour at the same time it addresses the decline Bengal landed oligarchy.

Other novels are more revealing: Shesher Kobita (translated twice-Last Poem and Farewell Song) is his novel's most lyrical, with poems and rhythmic passages written by the main character (a poet). It also contains elements of satire and postmodernism; stock characters gleefully attack on the reputation of an old, outdated, oppressive famous poet who, incidentally, goes by the name of Rabindranath Tagore. Although his books remain among the least popular of his works, they received renewed attention via film adaptations of filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, whose Chokher Bali and Ghare Baire; many have soundtracks featuring selections its own rabindrasangit Tagore. Tagore wrote many books of non-fiction, writing on subjects ranging from linguistics to Indian history. Apart from the autobiographical works, his travels, essays and lectures were compiled into several volumes, including Iurop Jatrir Patro (Letters of Europe) and Manusher Dhormo (The Religion of Man).
