The Police Service of Greater Chennai, a division
of the police in Tamil Nadu, is the agency law enforcement
in the city. Police of the city is headed by a police commissioner,
and the administrative responsibility of the Department of
Tamil Nadu. The department consists of 36 sub-divisions with
a total of 121 police officers, 15 of whom are certified ISO
9001:2000. The city traffic is managed by the Traffic Police

census, most of the city workforce has been involved in trade
(25.65%), manufacturing (23.52%), transportation (10.72%),
construction (6, 3%) and other services (31.8%). Chennai metropolitan
area accounts for over 75% of the sales tax revenue in the
state.

have back-office operations in the city. Chennai is the home
of three major domestic commercial banks at the state level
and many cooperative banks, finance and insurance companies.
Certain of India known health institutions such as Apollo
Hospitals (the largest supplier of private health care in
Asia), Sankara Nethralaya and Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre
