The mosque faces west. Its three sides are covered with arched
colonnades open, each with a high turn-door, as the centre.
The mosque is about 261 feet (80 m) long and 90 feet (27 m)
wide, and its roof is covered with three domes with other
bands of black and white marble, with its highest parts Gold.
Two lofty minarets, 130 feet (41 m) high, and containing 130
measures, longitudinally striped with white marble and red
sandstone, the domes flank each side. The minarets are divided
into three galleries and projections are overcome by the opening
of twelve domed pavilions face. On the back of the mosque,
there are four small minarets crowned as those on the front.
Jama Masjid (Dome of the masjid)
Under the dome of the mosque, is a vaulted room with seven
entrances facing west and the walls of the mosque, up to waist
height, are covered with marble. Beyond it is a prayer room,
which is approximately 61 metres x 27.5 metres, with arcades
eleven entries, whose center is wide arc and noble, and in
the form of a portal massive, with little minarets in every
corner, with the usual flag octagonal overcome. During these
entries, there are arcades of white marble tablets, four feet
(1.2 m) long and 2.5 feet (760 mm) wide, inlaid with inscriptions
in black marble. These markings give the history of the construction
of the mosque, and glorify the kingdom and Shah Jahan virtues.
The slab above the center arch simply contains the words "The
Guide!"
Jama Masjid, (North east entrance)
The mosque is located on a platform about five feet (1.5
m) of the carriageway of the terrace, and stealing three steps
lead inside the mosque in the east, north and south. The floor
of the mosque is covered with white and black marble decorated
mimic the Muslim prayer rug, a black marble thin border is
marked for the faithful, which is three feet long and 1 ½
feet wide. In total, 899 are labeled these spaces in the floor
of the mosque. The rear of the mosque is packed at the height
of the rock on which the mosque stands with large stones.
Jama Masjid is the largest and most elegant mosques in South
Asia.
The Masjid-i Jahan-Numa, commonly known as Jama Masjid is
the main mosque in the old city of Delhi. Commissioned by
the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and completed in the year 1656,
it is one of the largest and most famous mosques in India.
