Akshardham Temple
Akshardham is a Hindu temple in Delhi, India. It was consecrated
in November 2005 by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, spiritual leader
of BAPS (the organization responsible for the creation of
Akshardham) and solemnly dedicated to the nation by the President
of India, Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Sitting on the banks of the Yamuna river, near the village
of draft Commonwealth Games, the complex has a large monument,
designed entirely in stone, permanent exhibitions on Bhagwan
Swaminarayan and Hinduism, an IMAX film, fountain music, and
large gardens.

The Temple
The main building at the centre of the complex is a 141-foot-high
monument to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Designed according to ancient
Vedic texts known as Sthapatya-Shastra, it offers a mixture
of styles architecutral across India. In the monument under
the central dome, it is 11 feet high gilded image of Bhagwan
Swaminarayan. It is surrounded by the gurus of the sect. The
building itself is entirely built of pink sandstone rajasthani
and Italian Carrara marble, and has no steel or concrete.
Its height and location on the banks of the Yamuna means its
presence is felt far and carved details of flora, fauna, dancers,
musicians and deities on its surfaces from top to bottom,
let most visitors in admiration.
Exposures
Hall 1, entitled 'Sahajanand Pradarshan "presents life
as robotics, dioramas, and incidents of Bhagwan Swaminarayan
life, the portrait of his message of peace, harmony, humility,
service to others and devotion to God. The room is smaller
world animatronic robot in the form of Ghanshyam Maharaj,
the child form of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
Hall 2, called Nilkanth Kalyan Yatra ", houses in Delhi,
the first and only large-screen format. The theater shows
a film specially commissioned for the complex shows the path
Bhagwan Swaminarayan made during his adolescence through the
length and breadth of India. An international version of the
film was released in 2005 on a giant screen IMAX cinemas and
throughout the world under the title "Mystic India".
Hall 3, named Sanskruti Vihar, takes visitors on a journey
through 10000 years of history of India in 10 minutes. The
visitors sat in boats that are designed peacock their way
to an artificial river, through the first university chemistry
laboratories, former hospitals and bazaars, finally, ending
with a message for the future of India.
